The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI), and The Society of European Stage Authors and Composers (SESAC) are empowered by intellectual property law to collect royalties from venues for live performance of compositions copyrighted by composers/songwriters who they respectively represent.
ASCAP, BMI and SESAC do not have the right to collect royalties for live performance of music that is no longer under copyright (more than 90 years old) or copyrighted by a composer these organizations do not represent. Robert Bruce Scott specializes in presenting music that is not under copyright along with his original compositions and compositions by Joel Conner. Neither Robert Bruce Scott nor Joel Conner are currently represented by ASCAP, BMI or SESAC.
